What’s better than saving money? An easy way to save money.
Fortunately, there are plenty of simple ways to keep more of your hard-earned cash in your pocket. Here are 7 of them.
1. Start Clipping Coupons
Every Sunday, free money is delivered with your local newspaper. It’s embedded in the fold of the newspaper as a series of coupons.
Those coupons can save you money. As a bonus, you can visit your local grocery store on “double coupon days” or (better yet) “triple coupon days” and save even more money.
You won’t get rich off of coupons, but you’ll save a few bucks off of items you were going to buy anyways. If your grocery store also operates a gas station, you might find that you can save money on fuel with a rewards program.
Also, don’t neglect cyberspace for some great coupons. You’ll find plenty of online sites that offer great money-saving opportunities that you can print and take to your favorite retailer.
2. Consider Mild Discomfort
Do you really need to set your thermostat all the way down to 71 degrees in the summer? Do you think you can survive on 73, 75, or 76 degrees?
Chances are pretty good that you can. In so doing, you’ll also save yourself quite a bit of money in energy costs. Raise that thermostat and compare your electric bill from previous years when you put the thermostat down lower and see how much money you’ve just put in your pocket.
3. Keep Your Tires Filled
If you take over a lease on a car, the last thing you want is even more expenses added to the cost of your ride. One way to reduce the amount of cash you have to put into your car is to keep the tires inflated.
How does that help? It improves the mileage of the car and that saves you money in gas.
4. Remove Your Credit Card Number From E-Commerce Sites
You might be getting hit with annual or monthly fees for services that you don’t really need. That’s because you signed up for some kind of recurring service on a variety of websites and your credit/debit card gets charged automatically. Go through those website and have your credit card number deleted. You won’t be charged and will save money.
5. Eat Leftovers
How often have you thrown out leftovers from the refrigerator? If the answer to that question is “too often,” then start eating those leftovers instead of throwing money away.
6. No More Soda
Soda is notoriously unhealthy for you and it’s expensive. You might appreciate the caffeine boost and sugar rush you get from some brands, but you shouldn’t appreciate the wasted money.
7. Shop Right After Holidays
Question: when is the best time to buy Christmas decorations? Answer: right after Christmas.
That’s because stores are trying to get rid of surplus inventory. Make that work to your advantage and save money.
These are just a few money-saving hacks. Take a few moments today to think of some creative ways that you can save money. You’ll be glad you did.
