How to Save Big Money on Groceries Without Coupons

You want to save money in as many ways as possible. However, you’d like to look for ways to save money on groceries without the hassle of clipping coupons. Fortunately, there are ways that you can do just that.

Here are several ways to save big money on groceries without coupons.

Buy What’s on Sale

Every week, many grocery stores distribute fliers that indicate exactly what’s on sale. Usually, the fliers are inserts in the local newspaper. You can also sign up for digital fliers online.

Here’s the trick: when you see something that’s on sale, stock up on it. It doesn’t do you a whole lot of good to save just 50 cents on one pack of hot dogs while they’re on sale. However, if you load up on hot dogs and store them in the freezer, you can save a lot of money on just one trip and have a convenient dinner or lunch available for the end of the week.

When you follow this trick, your out-of-pocket expenses will be a little higher up front. However, in the long run you’ll save a lot of money. That sure beats searching around for coupons online.

Quite Wasting Food

You might have noticed yourself throwing out a lot of leftovers lately. If that’s the case, then you’re not doing a very good job at saving money on groceries.

Use what you have. Eat those leftovers and sacrifice variety for frugality. You’ll be glad you did when you save hundreds of dollars in grocery expenses over the long run.

Avoid Buying More Than You Need

This is an especially good idea when it comes to produce: don’t buy more than you need. Otherwise, it’s likely to go bad (even if you store it in the refrigerator).

It might take a few shopping sessions, but eventually you should be able to work out exactly how much produce you need for a week (or two weeks, if that’s what you’re shopping for). Once you get it nailed, be disciplined in your buying habits.

Take Advantage of Loyalty Programs

These days, many grocery stores have loyalty programs. Usually, they’ll issue you a card and you use that card every time you shop there to save money on some items and, possibly, earn rewards for other purchases, such as fuel.

You’ll save yourself a small fortune in the long run when you use rewards programs.

Shop at Discount Grocers

Is there an Aldi in your vicinity? If so, you can save a lot of money without ever clipping one coupon.

If there’s no Aldi, consider shopping at your local Walmart or other discount grocery store. You probably won’t save as much as you will at Aldi, but you’ll almost certainly save money if you shop there instead of your regular grocery store. The great thing about shopping at Walmart is that you can use coupons (if you ever decide to do that) and save even more.

You don’t have to clip coupons to save money on groceries. Instead, you can shop smartly and save the coupons for restaurants and other stores.
