5 of the Strangest Amazon Prime Day Deals of 2016

This Amazon Prime Day, shoppers are scooping up deals online, then posting about their purchases on social media.

They’re using the hashtag #PrimeDay to share their TV, tablet, headphone and speaker orders. Clothing is on sale, and so are shoes. Amazon promised 100,000 deals on Prime Day 2016, so some are bound to be a little out of the ordinary.

We rounded up some of the most bizarre items discounted in Tuesday’s event.

1. Mustache wax

Mustache wax is designed to keep your mustache firmly in place. And if that’s what you’re looking for this Prime Day, Amazon has a deal for you. The 0.5-ounce version of Wild Willie’s Mustache Wax is available for $8.61, 20% off its regular price ($10.77).

2. Women’s Stretch Invisibelt

The Women’s Stretch Invisibelt promises to help users “avoid unsightly bulk created by wearing a big belt buckle under a fitted top.” If this problem plagues you, find it on Amazon today for $18.49 (regularly $24.99). That’s a 26% price cut.

3. Motion-activated toilet nightlight

The deal that’s perhaps gaining the most attention on social media is the GlowBowl motion-activated toilet nightlight. It fits on your toilet seat and lights up — in blue, red, purple, yellow, aqua, green or white — when you make a nighttime restroom visit. If this offer catches your attention, you can purchase the nightlight for $14.94 (regularly $19.99), or 25% off.

4. Metal shoe horn

Last year, Amazon Prime Day caught flak for its shoe horn deals — but this year, the infamous sale is back again. Shoppers can snag the 7.5-inch Zomake metal shoe horn in silver for $5.59 (regularly $6.99). That’s a 20% deal.

5. Prepared microscope slide set

Unless you’re a biology teacher, we can’t imagine what you’d do with this next item. The AmScope prepared microscope slide set for basic biological science education has been reduced 48% to $11.80 (regularly $22.50). It includes a wooden case filled with 25 prepared slides, including samples of plants, insects and animal tissues.

Most Prime Day deals are only available for a specified period of time, or until inventory is 100% claimed. Nearly 11 hours into the event, these items were still available.
